Sure you have an incredible array of options when it comes to drinking in Amsterdam – but why would you go to a normal bar when you can have a drinking experience?
Regardless of whether you’re a local or a tourist, one of the best drinking activities in Amsterdam is taking a tour of the iconic Heineken Brewery. Dubbed the Heineken Experience, the 75-minute self-guided tour takes visitors through a history of the beer and includes a few pints during the experience. Inside the brewery there are interactive drinking rooms and a “create your own” bottle station. At the end of the tour, guests can grab another pint and mingle with other patrons over their shared buzz and love of the classic pilsner.
Another one-of-a-kind drinking activity is actually an age-old Dutch tradition that can be found at Wynand Fockink. Here, intricate shot glasses are lined up at the bar and patrons are encouraged to take down the shots without using their hands or lifting the glasses from the bar.
So take a break from the coffeeshops and brown bars and try something a little different – there’s nothing like a little combination of learning and drinking to boost your day!
