Every May 5th in the Netherlands, the entire country celebrates Liberation Day to commemorate the end of the occupation by Nazi Germany during World War II. On this special day, Amsterdam locals head to a variety of parties like the exciting Bevrijdingsfestival.

Bevrijdingsfestival features various commemorations around the entire city, like meetings at war monuments, cemeteries, and various concert venues. Some notable Bevrijdingsfestival happenings include a quiet retreat led by the city mayor, Theater After the Dam, and various food vendors boasting delicious grub.
