International Documentary Film Amsterdam (IDFA) - Film Festival | Screening in Amsterdam.

The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam is an annual, specialized film fest held in November at various theaters around Amsterdam. The unofficial festival headquarters is located in Rembrandt Square at the Marie-Stella Maris IDFA Café, which serves as the main gathering place for festival guests in between events.

Started in 1988, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam has grown into the largest annual documentary film festival in the world with over 200 documentaries screened each year to a crowd of over 120,000 visitors. The eleven-day festival features nine competitions pitting the documentaries against each other for a chance to win prizes between €2,500–€12,000. Past International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam winners include Last Train Home directed by Lixin Fan and The Cove directed by Louie Psihoyos.

International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam ticket prices start at around €200 for a festival pass with individual screening tickets starting at around €15. Tickets can be purchased online or at the guest box office.
