Odeon Information

Odeon - Club | Lounge in Amsterdam.

Odeon is a multi-purpose venue located within the heart of Amsterdam’s Canal Belt. Originally constructed in 1663 as a beer brewery, the building was rebuilt in the 1830s as Amsterdam’s first concert hall. Historic concerts at Odeon include performances by David Bowie and Elton John.

In the late 20th century, Odeon was again converted to a cinema and auction house. Finally, in 2005, Odeon reopened after an extensive renovation and now houses a café, bar, restaurant, and restored concert hall. The hall functions as both a nightclub and a space for presentations, meetings, and performances.

Situated right in the cultural triangle of the Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein, and Spui, Odeon also hosts many international events and activities.

Masquerade Party at Odeon 2010 - Thrilling with feathers!!!
Tzetzi L. Jul 30, 2013
Not so long ago I was asked to take pictures at an extraordinary club called Odeon. From the outside big doors invite you in. from the inside a marble stone interiour make you believe you are in a Eye's wide shut film. With its heavy resonance accoustics I was pretty surprised by the overall look and feel I got as I was entering. I have to say, I am impressed by the renovation. It has a lot to offer does it want to compete with bigger boys, like Escape and Paradiso... But as the night progressed, and people started to loosen up, hands went up in the air, I took out my gear, popped up the flash and started walking around capturing their moments. Masks and feathers were everywhere. everyone was dressed like 18th century ball goers. Hence the name Masquerade party. Unlike the music thou (not so 18th century) line up was modern with some techno and trance nuances. A crowd of nearly 500 people, all wearing masks and some in full costume made it a near perfect experience. Champagne was poured freely at the entrance by two barely dressed hostesses that invited you to go deeper into the lion's den. I had a great time, I have to say. Met some interesting/bizarre people, as usual in Amsterdam, and am happy to have been a part of the experience. Party organizers Partygeneration did an outstanding job making this party happen. Hope they do one again, I know I will be there with my feathers to thrill some more ;)
One of the most down to earth & coolest little clubs in the world!

So, anyway the first time I was in Amsterdam it was a Saturday night and I had a trance itch I seriously needed to scratch, but,I didn't want to wait in a long line and/or pay more than 10 euros cover charge. Especially, knowing I was going to need most of my euros for drinks all night long while listening to some of the hottest trance DJs in the world. I saw a flyer for this Club Odeon and decided to find it and see what it was all about. When I arrived at this historic building I thought,"This place doesn't look like much". Especially, because, there was no line and it was about 10 euros to get in. There was a coat check which I needed somewhere to put my coat and not worry about holding onto it all night. That was about 2 euros. I noticed there were two separate rooms, the main room is a much bigger room located in front of the building that is used mainly for bands. I stuck my head in and noticed people were just chillin' & smokin' listening to chill music. I needed more high energy music,so,I proceeded to the back room where I heard that music to my ears, trance. It was like entering into a separate nice size trance nightclub with it's own bar and awesome bartenders and most of all,"The DJ was mixing & blending all the hottest trance tracks,as well,as some of the old favorites. It was like having front row seats to a mini TIESTO concert in the heart of Amsterdam!" I had such a blast that I stayed until closing time and met some cool people from all over the world that share my love for trance. I've been back several times since then and will continue going back every time I am in Amsterdam. 4 stars and thumbs up!!!
Average club, historic decor, still does private events

I'm surprised Odeon stopped running as a place for clubs. It was one of the few decent clubs in the center that wasn't an outrageous price, and since it was housed in a historic building there were some cool things about it. Since I'm not a huge clubber I went just a few times. But the few times I went the staff was nice, and people weren't afraid to let lose. They used to have these classy berry cocktails that were well worth it, but I think they charged a little too much for beer. Anyway, I hear it's still a good place for private events, which is what thy mostly do now.
