The two-story venue features a main hall with impressive acoustics and a café. Events at Badcuyp include live music concerts, salsa and world dance nights, and art exhibits. The venue also regularly hosts workshops by notable musicians.

This is a perfect opener to the Amsterdam jazz scene -- which is a live and kicking crew that is growing in outlets for performance. But Badcuyp is a bit more intimate and impersonal, a close up but laid back experience with solo jazz artists and improv pros and students. There are two different rooms here, so choose whether you want to chill in a cafe setting or hang in a more theater like room. If you get there early enough live music can be for free, as their workshops invite people to observe some nice work-in-progress groups and numbers.
