The Dover International Speedway, based in Dover, Delaware, has been the site for NASCAR races since its opening in 1969. The speedway, with a capacity of 135,000, can handle big-ticket events, including Sprint Race Series races. Recently, the speedway added IndyCar events as well.
Nicknamed “The Monster Mile,” the speedway has a one-mile oval track. Seating is located on two levels all the way around the oval, and a glass-enclosed structure, called the Monster Bridge, sits over the third turn. An eight-acre FanZone, located off of turn 4, includes concessions, attractions, slot machines, and rock-climbing walls. A hotel and casino associated with the speedway sits on the grounds as well.
Tickets at Dover International Speedway range in price from about $20–$100, depending on event and seat location. Add-ons include packages that allow trackside access. Monster Bridge seats are not for sale; the speedway works with sponsors to award them as contest prizes or charity giveaways.
Parking is $10 for Sunday events and free for races on Fridays and Saturdays. Tailgating occurs before races, and RV lots offer overnight camping. Occasional non-race events at Dover International Speedway include concerts and the Firefly Music Festival every June.
