What do you get when you combine an old-time movie house, a roster of second-run movies, first-rate comedians, and a collection of super comfy high-backed executive office chairs? An undeniably awesome viewing experience that makes leaving the house worthwhile. Instead of the rows of stadium seating and miserably kicked seat backs and armrest cupholders we've grown accustomed to in modern theaters, Arlington Cinema N' Drafthouse offers a markedly alternative experience. Comfortable, un-kickable chairs, with table surfaces arranged in pairs and quartets. Instead of standing the concession line endlessly, listening as you and date grow older, fatter and angrier waiting for overpriced popcorn, the Drafthouse has a dedicated waitstaff serving a full food and alcohol menu. Personal favorites include the crab cake sandwich and the nacho platter. We're not sure if sweatpants are acceptable on a date, but we are sure you'll think about it. Between the $2 movie nights, the paid and free standup comedy shows and the variety of vintage cult movies, the Drafthouse is worth considering in any set of weekend plans. Add a little more variety and interaction to the typical Friday night at the movies; nothing says leisure like office chairs.
