1st Mariner Arena (Baltimore, MD) Information
Located just down the street from the convention center in Baltimore, 1st Mariner Arena is the city’s largest multisport indoor complex. The venue first opened in 1962, but underwent major renovations in 1986 and has since played a key role in the redevelopment of the Inner Harbor.
Throughout its history, it has been the home court of many of Baltimore’s former professional teams, such as the Baltimore Bullets of the NBA, the Baltimore Clippers of the American Hockey League, and the Baltimore Blast of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Currently there is no regular team here, but the space is used for a diversity of sports and entertainment events. Up to 14,000 fans can spectate basketball, indoor soccer, arena football, and ice hockey games at 1st Mariner Arena, and the building has even hosted WWE wrestling and Motocross performances.
Concerts at the 1st Mariner Arena also occur on a regular basis. Led Zeppelin and the Grateful Dead played here in their heyday, and today popular artists such as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and John Legend play at the complex on their worldwide tours.
