American Eagles Men's Basketball

The American University Eagles men’s basketball team currently plays Division I NCAA basketball at Bender Arena which has a seating capacity of 4,500. Bender Arena is situated on the American University campus which is in Northwest, Washington, DC. The AU Eagles are part of the Patriot League which includes other mid-level Division I teams. Not considered a powerhouse in college basketball, American Eagles games are none the less exciting and the team vies for a spot in the NCAA tournament every year by being in contention for the Patriot League title. AU Eagles tickets, however, are not hard to come by. The most famous AU basketball alumnus is Kermit Washington who spent 15 years in the NBA and is most well-known for his infamous punch on Rudy Tomjanovich in 1977.
