Party Earth Review: A cavernous upscale temple to its namesake drink, Dirty Martini is popular for everything from a midweek working lunch – liquid or otherwise – to a post-work pre-party, to a classy after-hours soiree. Exposed white brick, sleek hardwood, and modern Italian furniture provide a classy backdrop for the foreign policy bigwigs and Hill staffers who drop in during the day for bison burgers and seared tuna, while near-daily Happy Hour specials draw trendy grad students and up-and-coming professionals in for some early evening drinks beneath the dramatically high ceilings. A two-story mirror embossed with the image of a nude woman in a martini glass looms over the main bar area, where a dapper young crowd mixes and mingles as stiletto-clad bachelorette parties take to a massive communal table to split a signature Big Dirty martini – all forty-eight ounces of it. Newly minted couples, meanwhile, meander up the steel staircase to the more intimate mezzanine, where they can tuck into crescent-shaped booths and flirt over champagne and classic cocktails. Top 40 remixes transform the upscale eatery into a sophisticated lounge at night, as the Happy Hour crowd makes way for groups of partygoers who like to stop in for a glass or two before heading to the adjoining but distinctly separate Dirty Bar on the third floor, a cabaret-style nightclub under the same ownership. Whether for relaxed afternoon cocktails or late-night lounging, Dirty Martini is the perfect spot to wash off the day. ... read full review |
