DC Parties Overview
There are lots of Washington, DC parties. And no, we aren’t talking about Democrats, Republicans, Greens, or Libertarians, though all of them and everybody else should be able to find an alluring DC party to let loose in.
Like any big city, there are plenty of club nights in town, with variable themes from kitschy costume party galas to cool underground parties only those in the know get to hear about.
From a neighborhood perspective, the biggest – and by that we mean rowdiest – DC parties invariably take place in Adams Morgan. Packing more bars into a short stretch than anywhere else in DC, Adams Morgan has such a reputation for late-night rowdiness and crazy late-night DC parties that residents call the main drag of 18th Street “The Liquoridor,” a moniker kept alive by the throngs of Friday-happy college kids who parade up and down the sidewalk looking for cheap drinks and raucous fun.
Those looking to get in on cool underground parties and most of the city’s best live and DJ-driven music action, meanwhile, needn’t look any further than the U Street Corridor, a roughly nine block stretch with some of the most popular music venues in the District. Great club nights can be found at a host of clubs all over town, but especially Downtown, where you’re just as likely to be dancing it up with some international fashionista as you are a Capitol Hill staffer or even a big player in the political world.
Such is the DC party scene, where it doesn’t matter your politics so long as you’re ready to have fun.
