Warner Theatre Information

As a former vaudeville and movie theater, the Warner Theatre exemplifies the grand old film palaces that brought glamour and drama to a night at the movies. Built in 1924 in downtown DC two blocks from the White House, the Warner Theatre was a luxurious spot for movies, as well as dancing in its basement ballroom. After decades of tough use and neglect, the Warner was decrepit by the 1980s. Fortunately, in 1992, a major renovation restored the building’s glory. These days, it is a live music, theater, and dance venue that seats 1,847.

A grand lobby, lit with chandeliers and outfitted in gold and maroon, greets patrons. The auditorium has two levels of seating, and the décor throughout is ornate and gilded. Concessions at the Warner Theatre include several bars, and drinks can be consumed at seats. Concessions accepts credit cards.

Performances at the Warner Theatre include low-key musicians like Gotye and Tegan & Sara, comedians like Lewis Black and Jim Gaffigan, and crowd-pleasing shows like a long-running The Nutcracker production during the holidays.
