The 8X10 (Baltimore, MD) Live Music Venue

The 8X10 is a live music venue located at E. 10 Cross Street in Baltimore, Maryland. This intimate venue has a very interesting history. The venue was originally a country western bar called the Dew Drop Inn and did not offer live music. In the late 1970s, the site became Joe's Organic Juice Bar for several years before it was purchased and converted into the Eight By Ten and became a music venue for the first time. In 2002, the venue was and renamed The Funk Box and renovated to its current layout, which boasts a stage surrounded by standing room and a second floor balcony for additional viewing space. The space was re-sold again in 2005 and renamed The 8X10 to preserve and reinvent its past title.

Concerts at The 8X10 include both local performers such as Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Lake Trout, and The All-Mighty Senators, in addition to big name bands. Performances at The 8X10 have often been given by bands that were little-known at the time, but have since become nationally and internationally renowned, such as Dave Matthews Band, Nirvana, and Godsmack. Local bands at The 8X10 find a great stage to showcase their work and become more well-known. One of the more popular events at The 8X10 is the weekly Open Mic Night, which allows would-be artists to compete with other local performers for a live audience.
