DOWNTOWN WASHINGTON, DC –
Located at the top of the Donovan Hotel, ADC (“Above DC”) is a happening rooftop pool and bar where sexy patrons seek out sophisticated drinks and sultry sunset vistas.
Although reserved for hotel guests by day, the requisite bikini girls and beach bodies that dominate the scene give way to the miniest miniskirts and highest high-heels during evening Happy Hour, when the elevator doors part to let the privileged public in.
Fourteen stories above the bustling Thomas Circle intersection, young professionals and posh girls indulge in ADC’s nightclub transformation and the chance to sip $10 beers while enjoying a million-dollar view.
Stylish patrons in the covered VIP section snack on sushi plates from Zentan, the hotel’s premium restaurant, while a small corner bar entices cocktail connoisseurs with top-shelf mimosas and rare microbrews. Most guests, however, choose to mingle on the sleek hardwood deck or dip their perfectly manicured feet in the glistening warm water.
Although DJs start spinning a mix of Top 40, house, and techno around 8pm, there isn’t much dancing here, probably because everybody’s clothes are too tight.
ADC has a capacity of only a hundred and fifty people and can fill up fast. Check the Donovan Hotel’s Twitter feed to see if the party on the roof is full. You’ll also get first dibs on exclusive calendar information and last-minute events.
Fashionable young professionals and stylish hotel guests, mid-20s to mid-30s.
Pool. DJ spins Top 40, house, and techno nightly.
Asian-inspired flavors from Zentan, the hotel’s lobby restaurant, including soups, sushi plates, and noodles. Happy Hour M–Sa 6–7pm.
Appetizers $7–$26, sushi $5–$8, entrées $20–$34. Beer $8–$11, wine $8–$18, cocktails $8–$13.
Business casual to upscale trendy: cocktail dresses, designer jeans, khakis, dress pants, button-down shirts.
Friday and Saturday nights around 11pm for the largest crowd of pretty people, or any evening to enjoy the sunset.
Lima (1401 K Street NW) offers three floors of nonstop dancing to a mix of Top 40 and hip-hop.
