DC Fashion Week 2012 Fashion Event Sep 17–23, 2012

DC Fashion Week is a semi-annual fashion trade show held in various locations throughout the city. During the September fashion week, designers’ Ready-to-Wear, Haute Couture, and men’s Spring/Summer collections for the following year are debuted, while February’s fashion week features Fall/Winter collections.

DC Fashion Week is one of many fashion weeks held internationally. Other major fashion weeks include New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, and Paris Fashion Week.

A partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models, DC Fashion Week was created to increase economic development in the area of fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling, and to enhance the visibility of the nation's capital as a center of international fashion.

What distinguishes DC Fashion Week from others is that the city features designers whose collections capture the unique styles of international cultures. Participating designers that showcase their artistic talent and creativity include Corjor International, Andrew Nowell, and Anjoreen Couture.

Events at 2012’s DC Fashion Week included a fashion parade celebrating street style in Chinatown, a fashion industry networking party at Dirty Bar in Dupont Circle, and an eco-friendly fashion show where designers were challenged to craft garments with recycled materials.

During the week, the city comes alive with an energy that crowds local restaurants and hotels with some of the most influential people in fashion, entertainment, and art eager to join in on the excitement of Fashion Week.
