It may seem to be all business on Capitol Hill, but Washington, DC comedy shows bring the laughter to the District thanks to a selection of seriously funny clubs.
Whether you’re in the mood for some open mic, improv, sketch comedy, a hilarious play, or just traditional stand-up, DC offers up plenty of feathers to tickle your funny bone.
DC Improv is a highly respected club where many big names in comedy have graced the stage, and the venue also offers a Comedy College for burgeoning funny folks looking to hone their craft – as well as a full restaurant so guests don’t have to go hungry when they’re hungry for laughs.
The Capitol Steps keep things hilariously political twice a week, when former Congressional staffers perform a political musical satire that’s all about current events on the Hill, and is definitely a DC comedy show that political junkies will want to see.
Riot Act Comedy Theater over in Penn Quarter, meanwhile, has a host of Washington, DC comedy shows on its schedule, as well as its own popular school to help people learn the comedy trade.
Like in any major city, bigger venues like the Verizon Center are known to book huge national acts as well, so whether you’re looking to catch an unknown comedy show in DC or the biggest comedy show on the planet, chances are good you’ll be able to find a little (or a lot) of both.
