Thankfully, finding great cafés in Washington, DC isn’t as hard as finding a sane politician. Cafés keep popping up on every corner around DC, and they come in all shapes and sizes and cover a whole range of price points.
There are several independently owned cafés in the District and plenty of big corporate chains too, so whether you just want a quick cup of java on the go or want to while away the day with a book and maybe some live entertainment, the city’s cafés have you covered. One of the most notable DC cafés is Kramerbooks & Afterwords, a combination independent bookseller and high-end café in Dupont Circle that has become a Washington, DC staple for an eclectic and hyper-literate clientele.
Tryst, meanwhile, even though it’s situated in a neighborhood known for its rowdy nightlife, invites Adams Morgan rabble-rousers to step back, have a latte served with animal crackers, and chill out.
Such is the great diversity of Washington, DC cafés, where you can sit with trendy types, with rowdy college kids, with tourists, and probably with the next senator from Everytown, USA.
