Aug 12, 2012 — Being the home to the leaders and policy makers of the United States, the iconic Washington, DC is always stirring with debate. You hear a lot of talk about what the Founding Fathers would have done: they would have wanted this law, or that regulation, or those cell phones. It’s hard to say what people who lived three centuries ago would have liked today, but one thing we are sure of is that the Founding Fathers would have wanted rooftop bars.
With the most beautifully architected structures in the nation, it’s no wonder that people want to sip their drinks while gazing upon all that history. Most of the city’s rooftop bars are upscale hotels, where politicians and savvy travelers alike mill over cocktails and conversation. Whether it’s to lie poolside on a hot August day high above the busy streets, or sit next to your elected official as a light snow floats onto the marble edifices below, there’s a high-altitude watering hole for all occasions.
So while the rest of the city argues with each other, we at Party Earth wanted to cut through the red tape and give you our bipartisan votes for the best rooftop bars in Washington. And the best part about DC’s ordinance limiting the height of buildings is that you never have to worry about your view of the Washington Monument or the dome of the Capitol being spoiled by an ill-placed skyscraper.
