Party Earth Bar Dupont Review

The Scene

Bar Dupont in Washington, DC’s Dupont Circle is a trendy hotel bar offering a chill start to the night. Relax into the weekend in DC with Party Earth.

A respite from the boisterous weekend crowds of college kids piling out of the metro a block away, Bar Dupont in The Dupont Circle Hotel is ideal for quiet evenings or a stylish slow start to the night before hitting a nearby club.

Light lounge music plays overhead as guests arrive through the street entrance, first passing through a sofa-strewn patio that offers panoramic views of the neighborhood’s famed eponymous park and traffic circle – always a good bet for people-watching.

Bustling city vistas are equally prevalent just inside thanks to floor-to-ceilings windows, while a lounge area filled with plush couches provide room for dapper hotel guests and trendy ladies to relax over house cocktails rich with fresh purees and sweet syrups.

The bar, stretching down much of the adjoining main room toward the glass doors to the lobby, hosts classy gents nursing single malts and catching the highlights off the muted TVs, which, paired with hanging pendants and a flickering fireplace, provide most of the light in this dim space.

As evening sets in, the older businessmen at the scattered tables give way to mod clubbers and Euro scenesters, who fill up on shrimp cocktails and pulled pork tacos before venturing off to rowdier prospects worthy of their high hemlines.

There’s no raging party at Bar Dupont, but guests will enjoy an elegant escape from the city’s frenetic pace, and sometimes that’s all the party they need.

Stylish Lounge in the Heart of Dupont Circle

Bar Dupont for a time was my go-to place for happy drinks and meet-ups. I would always recommend this place to D.C. visitors passing through because of it's prime location on Dupont Circle and it's chic lounge ambiance. The entire venue is opened up with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the bustling streets and the Dupont fountain. While the drinks are a little more pricey, it's worth the little weekday splurge to sit in modern furniture among chic patrons snacking on free bowls of wasabi peas, with great friends of course!

Bar Dupont, located directly in the hub of popular Dupont Circle as part of the Dupont Circle Hotel, offers a classy indoor and outdoor escape from the often over-crowded D.C. bar and restaurant scene. Happy Hour cocktails are delicious and well-priced (around $6) and the food is absolutely delectable, especially the calamari. The Cafe Dupont menu (French cuisine) is available at the bar, a nice feature for hungry guests seeking more than light snacks. As a former hostess at this venue during the summer I interned in D.C., I can attest to the tremendous top-notch hospitality at this entire venue- from the bar to the cafe to the hotel itself. Guests requests, however strange, are granted 99% of the time to ensure a unique and memorable experience. The Dupont Circle Hotel is the place to go for a casual happy hour with friends before hitting the town, an intimate dinner date, or a business lunch/dinner with clients.
Consistently good bar food and nice drinks, but be prepared to pay for it.

Bar Dupont is a bar/restaurant located conveniently in the center of Dupont Circle. While it doesn't draw a huge party crowd, it's perfect for a lunch in the sun, or drinks with friends. They serve somewhat upscale bar food on the bar side and have a more extensive menu in the restaurant, which is definitely worth trying. The drinks at the bar are consistently great, and change according to what's available seasonally (particularly the fruits included in the cocktails). The biggest draw is the outdoor lounge area that fills up with stylish 20 and 30 somethings in the summertime. If you're looking for a wild night out though, this is not your place.
