Venice Nightlife Areas Overview

Erbaria - Market | Nightlife Area | Outdoor Activity | Plaza in Venice

Okay, so you’re not going to be knee-deep in raging bars and clubs when you’re in Venice – in fact, most Young Venetians tend to go to Lido or mainland Mestre for their nightlife – but there are still a couple Venice nightlife areas worth checking out to keep the party going.

Mellow but worth a visit or two (or three…or five), the three squares that make up the Erbaria on the San Polo side of the Rialto Bridge create an informal meeting place for young locals. Although it’s a produce and fish market by day, Erbaria begins to transform around twilight with the arrival of a gregarious pre-dinner crowd that congregates on the piazza steps and around the closed market stands to chat, drink, and occasionally play music.

Campo Santa Margherita, meanwhile, has earned a reputation as the primary nightlife area in Venice, and particularly caters to the area’s high-spirited student population thanks to its location near both the University of Venice and Ca’ Foscari University. About a dozen small bars open every night until 2am making this campo the destination for young people, and anyone looking for an eclectic crowd and a high-energy vibe will certainly find it around this bustling nightlife area.

Even though it’s far from a 24/7 party, Venice nightlife areas have enough to keep everyone happy for awhile. And hey, Lido and Mestre are only quick boat or car ride away.
