Cento Carnevale d'Europa Description

Cento Carnevale d'Europa - Festival | Holiday Event | Parade in Venice.

Cento Carnevale d’Europa is a historic annual carnival and celebration held throughout February and March in Cento, Italy. Located about an hour and a half outside of Venice, Cento is an inland city famous for being the birthplace of painter Gian Francesco Barbieri, and for hosting one of the most vibrant carnivals in Italy.

Dating back to the 1600s, Cento Carnevale d’Europa has existed as a lively party, becoming the international draw that it is today in the 1980s. Taking place on four consecutive Sundays, Cento Carnevale d’Europa features over 500 fully costumed celebrants all gathered to watch the highlight of the festival, which is the float competition. All year long, groups work to create intricate and increasingly impressive papier-mâché floats that reach heights of up to sixty feet high.

Cento Carnevale d’Europa tickets start at around €15 and can be purchased online or at the carnival.
