Party Earth Review: The only club of its kind in the city, the Venice Jazz Club is an intimate music venue with an artsy, almost underground vibe. The club attracts a savvy clientele of jazz lovers who gather to appreciate classic jazz, bossa nova, and hot improvisations played by some of the area’s finest musicians. The slightly edgy mood is set right off the bat with dim lighting muting the effects of the vibrantly painted walls, while black-and-white accents, exposed electrical equipment, and a funky collection of books and themed memorabilia lend a familiar basement feel to the space. Cozy candlelit bistro tables – some pleasantly secluded by massive columns that add a bit of privacy – accommodate the well-dressed but laid-back guests who settle in before the show to enjoy drinks and hushed conversation. Once the music starts, however, the buzz of chatter subsides and all eyes are on the stage as the VJC Quartet entertains the foot-tapping crowd. “If you’re unable to get a reservation, you can still try to get in by showing up between 7 and 9pm. The space is small, but the club does try to accommodate walk-ins, including the occasional latecomer – it’s always worth a shot for a truly fantastic evening of jazz.”

Live music every night. Jazz performances by the VJC Quartet and guest musicians M–W, F–Sa. Jazz styles and tributes to famous artists vary nightly. Doors open at 7pm; live music from 9–11pm with short intermission. Check the website for a schedule.
Food/Miscellaneous
Cold-cut platters and vegetarian dishes. Space is limited to about 40 guests per show, so reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.
Prices
Cover charge €20, includes one drink. Cold-cut platters €8–€15 or €25/couple. Beer €3, wine €3+/glass or €15–€25/bottle, mixed drinks €5–€8.
