  • Runyon Canyon

Runyon Canyon - Outdoor Activity | Park in Los Angeles.
Mar 29, 2013 Exercise L.A. Style "Ahead of being a great place to hike, Runyon Canyon is great for tourists. The views of the mountains is great for anyone coming in from flat areas. It highlights the mountain ranges that make L.A. truly a unique and beautiful place. It really allows for just about anybody to experience what it's like to climb atop a mountain and the view you get in return for that climb will have you pulling out your smartphone and Facebooking that scenery. The people are mostly L.A. types, from high powered entertainment executives to their actor counterparts, this is a great place to people watch when it comes down to it. Many people bring their dogs, too, which definitely makes the hike up a cheerier one. Runyon has a few different spots to hike, depending on the difficulty level your looking for. The main road up is not difficult and yet, it's still a great workout. If you're just visiting L.A., a photo atop Runyon Canyon should top your to-do list. Mornings are prime -time where the weather is concerned. I've known people to take the free yoga classes at the south end of the park. High marks all around. Definitely recommended." hide

  • Amoeba Music

Mar 29, 2013 Must Visit For Music Fans "Have you ever thought to yourself, "Man I wish I had The Counting Crows' "Recovering The Sattelites" CD," or, "I wonder where I can get some Coltrane on vinyl..." Well, fill in the blanks where the titles are concerned, and start your search at Amoeba Music in Hollywood. This place is more than just a CD warehouse that also sells DVD's and vinyl, it's a beacon of music culture. With new acts like Lana Del Rey, and niche acts like The Blind Boys of Alabama having performed there, there is never a shortage of cultural impact coming out of Amoeba. Located right in the heart of Hollywood, just up the street from Hollywood Blvd, Amoeba is a great place to visit whether your in town for a few days, or have lived here your whole life. The best part of the store may just be their prices. They sell all kinds of used CD's which literally come in at well under $10 (I've bought more than one album there for $4.99) Their selection is so thorough it doesn't leave anyone out. You could go in and find Mandy Moore's first album and turn around and buy Macklemore's new project without a problem. The DVD selection upstairs is awesome for DVD collectors. Find the most obscure cuts and even add to your blu-ray collection. Whether it's a DVD, a CD, or vinyl, Amoeba is always a solid place to find what you're looking for. Highly recommended. " hide

Mar 25, 2013 A Vegan Getaway "Right in the heart of West Hollywood, Hugo's has one of the best vegan menus in Los Angeles. Ranging from their delicious and comparable Veggie patties, to their red lentil onion rings, Hugo's knows how to make vegans feel welcome. It's not just for vegans, though. They've got real beef burgers, and even some of the most tasty lean turkey burgers around. Not only does Hugo's have an option for everyone, they have a healthy option for everyone. One of my favorite parts of Hugo's is their tea selection. They've got a special selection of Oolongs (try the Ben Shan) and White (try the silver needle). Not only do they have a fascinating selection, but the wait-staff are extremely knowledgeable (not to mention friendly!) The restaurant is almost always packed and they've even got a cool celebrity clientele. Miley Cyrus has been known to eat at this hot-spot. Hugo's isn't unreasonably priced, though. So live like a celebrity and try Hugo's. Finally, you and your vegan (or non-vegan) friends can all go to one place." hide
