Mar 5, 2013 So great, especially during the holidays! "I went to the Grove for the first time during the holiday season, which was definitely an amazing way to experience it for the first time! The Grove is a really nice outdoor mall with clothing shops and great food. These include an American Girl store, Anthropologie, Cheesecake Factory, La Piazza (which is where I ate the first time I went there; delicious!), and a movie theater. As the name would suggest, there are a lot of trees in the outdoor area and for the holidays they were all strung up with lights. There was also a santa's sleigh being pulled by reindeer suspended in the air and (get this), artificial snow would rain down periodically on everyone walking around outside! It was absolutely wonderful. The Grove has dedicated parking and a lot of it, and there are elevators and escalators to take you down all the levels back to the ground where the shops are. I'm a college student without my own car here so I haven't been able to make it out to the Grove for a second time, but I can't wait until I'm able to! A really nice spot all-around." hide

Mar 5, 2013 A Sight to See "If you've never been to Los Angeles or a big city in general, or if you just aren't used to it, The Sunset Strip is seriously incredible just to see. There are billboards all over the place, and huge multi-story buildings with ads for clothing lines taking up the entire side from the roof to the ground. There are neon lights, all kinds of crazy and ornate-looking restaurants and venues, and LA icons. The first time I ever saw the strip I was driving to a specific destination, and I found myself slowing down in my car looking out the window and marveling at all the sights! Everything looks so cool, and every storefront has intrigue. You pass by famous venues like the Laugh Factory, the Roxy and the Whisky A Go Go as well as more interesting fare like Hustler Hollywood. The Strip, and in fact the entire length of Sunset, has a lot to offer!" hide

Mar 5, 2013 Beautiful and Impressive "You can't go to the nation's capital without exploring certain national landmarks (at least in my opinion; show some interest in your national history!), the national mall definitely being one! It's probably pretty cold in the winter, but in spring the weather is beautiful. You can sit outside and enjoy nature, visit one or more of the seemingly innumerable museums lining the sides (catering to diverse interests from art and history to science), or you can go check out the famed national monuments in the immediate area (the Lincoln Memorial, The National WWII Memorial, The Capitol Building, the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial and the perhaps lesser-known memorial but my personal favorite The Korean War Veteran's Memorial. It features statues of a troop of soldiers with all their gear moving together in a group as they would in war). The Washington Monument is also not terribly far off if you wanted to walk over and check that out as well. Honestly, just go to the national mall! It's amazing and you won't regret it!" hide
