Mom's Bar & Lounge - Bar in Los Angeles.
Sep 7, 2012 "Mother knows best"... "I don't know about you, but I love a good dive bar. Mom's is no exception, carrying that "what you see is what you get" attitude that make places like it so inviting. It's mostly a local hangout for the 20-30 range, except it's really popular on the weekends with 20-somethings. Unfortunately, a line down the street is very common on Friday/Saturday nights so unless you like waiting in line try to get there around 9 or 9:30pm. No food; this place is for drinking only with a full bar and has karaoke and a DJ on weekends. You won't find cheaper drinks than the ones they serve up, which is probably why they always have such a full dance floor when I've been. Wouldn't say this place is a destination spot, but if you live nearby pay Mom's a visit and you're sure to have a blast!" hide

Sep 7, 2012 Great Margs in a Quirky Spot "There are many nights that I find myself walking through El Carmen's seedy-looking exterior into their funky fiesta. The outside isn't anything impressive, but as soon as you get in you'll be surprised by their decorating choice- which is a little reminiscent of Tijuana. Most note-worthy are the glorified portraits of Lucha Libres look down on the young, hip crowd from the ceiling and those who haven't had too much tequila yet will also notice the Lucha Libre masks in the rafters. Even though El Carmen is pretty small and the bar can get a little cramped, I always get great service and I'm never disappointed by their margaritas. And I'm not talking about your average, run-of-the-mill, lemon/lime/tequila combination, I'm talking about everything from fruity infusions, like pomegranate, to the more bizzarre and spicy jalapeno. You'll go for the drinks, but you'll stay (and find yourself going back) for the great music, crowd, and overall infectious vibe. Ole!" hide

Sep 7, 2012 Cheers to Better Beers "I went to Father's Office for the first time a few weeks ago and cannot wait to go back! First off, the location on Montana Ave. and the space itself provide a great, local bar atmosphere. Not a lot of bells and whistles or flair in the decor, but you can tell they're serious with their extensive line-up of beers both on tap at the bar and in the back. Also, it's pretty small and can get cramped so I definitely suggest getting there late afternoon before the happy hour crowd hits if you decide to go during the week. Hey, it's a popular spot and for good reason. I was able to get one of my favorites (a Widmer, if you must know) and tried a refreshing, peachy Belgian that I'm sadly still fantasizing about. As for food, they have amazing frites and an incredible burger that lives up to its hype. Don't expect to get ketchup with your fries or make any special requests-they take a seriously authentic approach to their grub and the chef doesn't substitute on any orders. It's an experience so you just have to go with the flow and (trust me) it'll be worth it. So if you're looking to broaden your beer horizons and appreciate a good burger (I mean a really, really good burger), then this is the perfect place for you!" hide
