Apr 4, 2013 Best venue in the city "The Bowery Ballroom is by far the best place to see live music in a city that is brimming with live music venues. The size is perfect, the sound phenomenal, and there are multiple bars placed at strategic locations so lines are kept to a minimum. Crowds are usually pretty mixed and everyone's very laid-back; there's none of that see-and-be-seen vibe that plagues other bars and clubs around the neighborhood. In fact, this is one of the few places that I don't mind going to alone because the other patrons are always friendly and approachable. Plus, the Bowery's calendar is consistently amazing--a combination of well-established bands, up-and-coming indie acts, and openers that you know will be famous in a couple of years. Cannot recommend this venue highly enough. " hide

Apr 4, 2013 One word: Brunch. "I've indulged in Tre's endless mimosa/bellini brunch multiple times, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and chic, and try to sit outside (there's a large back area) when it gets warm enough--it really makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The food is delicious, the servers are friendly and helpful, and did I mention the endless mimosas and bellinis? There's a 1.5 hour time limit but the servers definitely take care of you--every time I've eaten here, I've never seen the bottom of my glass. Brunch at Tre is a fun, low-key, and affordable way to kick off your lazy Sunday--what more could you ask for? " hide

Apr 4, 2013 Avoid if possible "Unless one of your top 10 acts is performing here, avoid this venue. I've here multiple times, and the last time was to see a second-rate electronic act that my friend got us tickets for. As soon as the lights went down, a group of obnoxious NYU kids next to us proceeded to take out a bag of molly and pass it out amongst themselves. Needless to say, they spent the rest of the night getting into people's personal spaces, swaying weirdly, and generally being a nuisance. I tried to move to a different spot, but the stage is set at a weird angle, so it's not that easy to move around and still see the stage. Unfortunately, that was not my first time dealing with unpleasant crowds at LPR--something about its location must attract annoying people. And in addition to being overpriced, the bar is always super packed--I've waited almost 20 minutes to get drinks before. While they do book some very good acts, if these artists are big enough to be playing at LPR, they've probably got another date at Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, or any number of much better venues around the city. Go there instead. " hide
