Feb 19, 2013 Breakfast All Day "This diner isn't your typical run-of-the-mill diner. It has an intimate, cozy feel with modern design and attention to detail. The lighting sets the mood for a meet-up with friends after work or a lazy Sunday brunch. The staff are cordial and playfully engage in conversation right when you walk in the door. The menu is very diverse and adds a delectable twist to almost every item. If you have a hankering for pancakes or an omelette, this is your spot. The age range was mostly 20-30 somethings dressed in casual attire. If you're looking to just relax, the booths provide that comfort when sipping coffee or a cocktail. The entertainment provided is typically a sporting event so you can get all of your Lakers action. The music played is great; mostly indie songs or acoustic that isn't played at an obnoxiously loud volume. Overall, a great vibe and excellent food with quick service. I'd definitely recommend Kitchen 24 on your next exploration for food or drinks. " hide

Feb 19, 2013 Club Nokia: Mellow, Hip, Accommodating "Earlier this month, I was fortuitous enough to score tickets for Tegan and Sara's performance at Club Nokia. On this rare occurrence, I was still recovering from a fractured ankle and was wary of how accommodating the staff would be considering I had already purchased tickets for General Admission. Fortunately, parking for this venue, as well as for all of LA Live, isn't few and far between and we were able to park right in the lot on the corner of W 11th and S. Flower St. for a reasonable price of $10. Pretty cheap considering some of the other parking decks in the downtown area. If you're one of those early birds who like to arrive fashionably early, there are bars and restaurants conveniently located in the Nokia Plaza. The venue itself has many tiers. Even though we had GA tickets down on the first floor where it was standing only, the staff informed us of an unexpected surprise of "first come first serve" for the balcony seating up above. I don't recommend breaking a bone to get special treatment, but in case you are in the same predicament, there IS seating on the top floor which is handicap accessible. Not to worry, there is an elevator operated by a friendly staff member. Full bars and restrooms are located on every floor which appeared to be high on the cleanliness scale. And if, in fact, you are an advocate of preserving your hearing for years to come, complementary ear plugs are available in the bathroom on the fifth floor. Overall, I would definitely return to this venue again! " hide
