  • Bogatell Beach

    Barcelona
    Beach
Bogatell Beach - Beach in Barcelona.
Sep 10, 2013 Fun and popular beach " My Take: A larger and more popular neighbor to Nova Icária down the Barcelona coast, Bogatell is one of the most popular beaches the city has to offer. Unlike it’s dirty and overcrowded neighbors down at Barceloneta, popularity hasn’t ruined Bogatell. Thanks to it’s clearer and sandier waters, Bogatell is a great place for swimmers to enjoy the cool Mediterranean waters. The Scene: The beaches are full of every type of person. In one section you’ll find families with small children next to skaters smoking weed and large parties serving mojitos and paella. It’s a very community oriented place. Cocktails & Cuisine: People sell beer and other drinks for a euro and you’ll also find coconut on more crowded days but you’ll have to head to a beach bar for anything more substantial. Prices: The beach is public. What to Wear: Anything goes at the beaches in Barcelona. Insider Info/When to go: Spaces tend to fill up early closer to the water so get up and at ‘em if you want prime positioning. " hide

Nova Icària - Beach in Barcelona.
Sep 10, 2013 Worth the walk to escape the crowds "My Take: A seamless transition of the golden beaches to the blue of the Mediterranean waters is what most people expect of all of the coastline in Barcelona. Unfortunately pollution and overpopulation have drastically altered the aesthetic appeal of many of the beaches nearest to the city center. Fortunately, a walk away from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona presents beach-goers with a couple of stellar choices for sand and sun with Nova Icária being one of them. The Scene: Families, singles, topless bathers, drinkers, loungers and more all cram into Nova Icária during the summer months. Cocktails & Cuisine: There are restaurants that line the promenade and of course people hawking beer, soft drinks, and small snacks. Prices: The beach is public. What to Wear: It’s a Spanish beach, wear whatever you do or don’t want. Insider Info/When to go: The general feeling is that the further you’re willing to walk, the better the beaches, water, and atmosphere will be and the quality starts to pick-up noticeably at Nova Icária. • Pippermint

    Barcelona
    Historic Bar
Pippermint - Historic Bar in Barcelona.
Jul 16, 2013 13 L mixed drinks, beers, and sangria. "My Take: Located in the upscale neighborhood of Sarria-Sant Gervasi, Pippermint Bar is a popular spot for locals to get liquored up before hitting the trendier nightclubs of Barcelona. The main draw of Pippermint is its absurd drink sizes. While normal sized drinks and shots are available, Pippermint has drinks that come in both 6 and 13 liter glasses that even Andre The Giant would struggle to finish. The Scene: Being that it’s a popular area for study abroad students to be housed in, Pippermint often has a great mix of young locals and students ready to get the night off to a good start. Cocktails & Cuisine: Pippermint doesn’t have food but their drinks are enough to fill anyone up. Prices: Located in a nicer area on the periphery of the city center, Pippermint is a bit pricey but also offers an anitcrisis menu that aims to be a bit more budget friendly. For example, the 13 liter mixed drink goes for a reasonable 49 euros. Shots are 10 euro and pints are 4.40. What to Wear: Pippermint doesn’t have a dress code so come dressed in whatever you’ll be hitting the dance floor in after. Insider Info/When to go: Get a big group together and share one of Pippermint’s titanic drinks to save money and create an incredibly fun and social setting. " hide
