Mar 5, 2013 Pop Temple. "Paradiso is the Pop-temple of the Netherlands, name a punk-, pop- or rock- band and they played there when they were still undiscovered. You always have a friend that claims that they've seen John Legend when he still played in the little hall in Paradiso. Paradiso is a legend among artists too - in a documentary about Paradiso, Patrick Watson calls it the best place he ever played a gig in. That is not because the acoustics are amazing, cause they're not - but the fact that Paradiso is an old church, gives every gig a mystic feeling. Music is my religion. This is certainly the most legendary concert hall in Amsterdam, a must see. Be sure to go to Noodlanding on thursdays instead of Melkweg's Cable. " hide

Mar 5, 2013 Good food, beautiful location, beautiful bartender. "Hanneke's Boom translated: Hanneke's tree. When people spoke about it, I always imagined it as a tree house. And it actually is a -quite large- tree house. Beautiful for relaxing in the summer, drinking mint-tea and watching the sun set over the IJ. It is very near to the OBA, which is the library, so students like me, come there to take their mind off studying for a bit and just chill. Perfect for dates too. Because it is just so lovely and beautiful." hide

Mar 5, 2013 Students rule the world, or at least this one. "Good movies, good parties, good bands, good beers and the occasional handsome hipster. This cinema is student run, which was such a success that they opened Studio-K (lovely bar, cinema and club) and Skek (a student cafe where you can eat soups for 5 euros). If you want to organize something fun they always want to help you and help you host it. - but they are a bit chaotic or call it anarchistic at times (because they don't have any hierarchy in their organisation). So there are a lot of student-things going on, movie nights by local student alliances etc. They host after-talks about movies and even own there own petrol station! Best movie programming in town if you ask me. " hide
