Short Order - Burger Joint in Los Angeles.
Dec 5, 2012 Incredible Burger "There is definitely no shortage of burger spots in Los Angeles, but one of the best in town is fairly newcomer Short Order at The Grove. With prime real estate at the corner of Fairfax and Third street, ample parking, and right outside the entrance to the Farmers Market, Short Order is convenient and easy in one of the highest trafficked shopping areas in LA. Convenience aside, the burgers speak for themselves. I've had the IDA's Old School, the eponymous Short Order Burger, and Amy's Turkey Burger. All have been cooked perfectly, all incredibly juicy, and all have a unique flavor not found anywhere else. Their sides are equally good and you should try the Mac 'n' Cheese or Old School fries to complement the ground beef. The place itself has a cool layout with indoor and outdoor seating both upstairs and down. It's good for groups, a quick bite with a friend, an after-work drink and burger by yourself, or a casual date before a movie at The Grove. The staff is always friendly and incredibly helpful - you can tell they love the food. Overall, you're going to have a great experience at Short Order. There are many burger options at The Grove - there's Johnny Rockets and there's an Umami - but Johnny is just a glorified fast food spot, and that particular Umami might be the most distasteful, soulless, corporatized joint I've ever been to. So hit up Short Order, enjoy the flavors and enjoy the convenience." hide

"My all-time favorite was the Cheesesteak Factory on M Street in Georgetown. Amazing cheesesteaks, amazing mozza sticks, amazing drunken people-watching. Sadly I heard they closed. In LA - I'll take a Tijuana dog wrapped in bacon outside the bar at 2am. Deliciously disgusting. Or Papaya King dogs in front of Sayer's Club. " hide

Redwood Bar and Grill - Bar | Live Music Venue | Restaurant in Los Angeles.
Oct 19, 2012 Pirates in LA? "So I've heard that the Redwood Bar and Grill doesn't like being called a pirate bar, but if that's the case, then don't put a treasure map with X marks the spot on the awning and have a bunch of nautical kitsch inside your venue. The bar itself is in a weird no man's land of downtown. The plus side is that there's plenty of street parking, the minus is that it's hit or miss if there will be people there. When you walk in, there's often a door guy collecting cover for that night's music. Cover at the Redwood Bar and Grill was only $5 when I went, but I'm sure it's band dependent. Once inside you're met by lots of punks and greasers there to see hard rocking music. There's almost always live music at the Redwood Bar, so if you go, make sure it's the kind you like. The place can get cramped, so be prepared to bang your head while shoulder to shoulder with the tatted and ripped shirt set. I'd say go if you like the band - don't if you don't. " hide
