Dec 7, 2012 Hip hotel/bar "The few times I’ve been to Palihouse, it has never been packed with people. It’s always pretty quiet actually when I walk in. The boutique hotel/bar has a cool, trendy vibe to it, I just don’t know if it gets that much foot traffic. Or maybe I’ve just been there on off nights. The lack of people at Palihouse has never deterred me though. The hotel has a cute atrium area set up for dining that’s really pretty when lit up at night. The pan-roasted chicken breast, squash ravioli, and bacon roasted brussels sprouts are very tasty. When I went to Palihouse for drinks one night I met up with a group of friends. Again, the bar was not crowded, so it felt like we had our own private party going on. We essentially had the whole bar/lounge area to ourselves. The bar is great to just sit and catch up with friends, but probably isn’t great for meeting people given that there is hardly anyone there. Aesthetically, the bar/lounge has a very unique and eclectic décor and is filled with random knick-knacks. The bar serves specialty cocktails and mixology drinks. I particularly like Tommy’s Margarita and The Mistress, which has a mix of vodka and champagne. The hip crowd and chill urban atmosphere at Palihouse make it a spot that I’d gladly go back to. I’d especially love to check out their cinema night on the roof next summer. " hide

Dec 7, 2012 Fun summer activity "Going to Hollywood Forever Cemetery for one of the Cinespia movie screenings was a fun summer activity and a unique experience. I went to see Lolita, which is a great classic film, but it was a little too long for my short attention span. These screenings attract lots of young hipsters and trendy people. The vibe was totally laidback and perfect for a warm summer night. Here are some tips that I wish I had known before going to Hollywood Forever Cemetery: 1. be prepared for stacked parking. You may not be able to leave early unless your car luckily isn’t blocked on all sides. 2. be prepared to use porta potties and potentially wait in line for a bit. There are no accessible bathrooms on the cemetery grounds. 3. bring a couple of blankets or towels to sit on so you’re not directly on the grass. 4. bring picnic food to share with friends or your date. Or pack something easy to eat like a sandwich. Seeing a movie at the cemetery was a cool experience. If there was a movie I was really dying to see I’d probably do it again. Otherwise, I’d like to go back for a concert. " hide

Dec 7, 2012 Shrimp Caesar Salad is the great "Cuvee is my go-to lunch spot with friends when I want to take a break from shopping on Robertson. I really enjoy sitting outside on the side patio. It’s a quaint area with few tables and provides an escape from the noise of Robertson Boulevard. The floral seat cushions give the patio a very garden-like feel. There are so many great options at Cuvee, especially because of their deli, which has fresh sides and pasta salads. Typically I’m not fond of Caesar salads, but here I almost always order the shrimp Caesar! It has a bit of a spicy kick to it, which makes it unique and satisfies my taste buds! I also enjoy the restaurant’s penne with pink sauce and white albacore tuna salad. I haven’t had breakfast at Cuvee, but I’d love to try it eventually. The bread at Cuvee is so delicious and always served warm. It’s hard not to fill up on it before your meal arrives. Other great things at Cuvee include their iced tea, cookies, and little snack items. I always see really stylish and trendy people dining at Cuvee. Makes sense given that it’s on one of the best shopping streets in LA! " hide
