Mar 30, 2013 Dinner and Dancing Without Switching Bartenders "Circa is a beautiful corner restaurant/ nightclub in the Marina. It's pretty posh in decor, and dimly lit during dinner hours. The food is ok, the seating cozy. The best part about Circa is if you're there on the weekend, dining turns right into dancing around 10pm. This place gets packed! It's large enough to accommodate a dance floor, couple of bars with standing room, and space to unwind and cool off (assuming you dance as much as I do). The DJ plays a nice mix of Top 40 and house music, all pretty well known stuff you can shake it to. If you're looking for a nice spot to pre-game that goes straight into a party, this is it!" hide

Mar 29, 2013 Incredible Japanese Cuisine w/ a side of Jazz "I can't say enough about Yoshi's, especially the San Francisco venue. The architectural design in itself is spell binding. As the sashimi melts like butter in your mouth, you can't but follow the line patterns hanging above. The dining area is quite spacious, with booths lining the walls. Every dish I've every ordered was delectable, including desserts. Delectable comes at a price, however, so be prepared to open that wallet. This is an incredible place to bring a date, or even just fellow jazz lovers. If you have dinner, management will assign a nice spot for you in the music hall. You can also buy tickets just for the show and snack at the tables. There are attentive waiters and waitresses working the hall all night with plenty of tasty drinks to serve. My favorite aspect of Yoshis SF is the dance floor! I saw George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic here, needless to say, no one was sitting. Even on the second level people were on their feet feeling the funk. This place is truly amazing. They host the best talent, serve the finest Japanese food, and have the most attentive, dedicated staff. If you love sushi and jazz, this place is the sweetest treat." hide

Mar 28, 2013 Modern Day Hippies or Just Bums? "Ok, this is really hard for me because I love hippie culture and was all too excited as a newbie in the Bay Area to visit Haight St. After six years it definitely has lost it's luster; however, I still take my out of town friends here when they visit. The plusses about Haight are the cute shops, the historical content, and the ability to spark a doob anywhere you please. The negatives are the people urinating in public, asking you for money, or a sip of your water while dining, and the overall solemn vibe reverberating around the area. Despite these nuances, I would still recommend a visit for the out of towner who wants to experience all San Francisco has to offer. Or even the boutique shopper who wants cute clothes at a reasonable price. Take my advice though -- strap on a pair of Birkenstocks, throw on your cut offs and ripped t- shirt before you go. This is definitely not a place to meander around in your business suite. " hide
