  • Halligan Bar

    Chicago
    Irish Pub / Sports Bar
Halligan Bar - Irish Pub | Sports Bar in Chicago.
Jul 2, 2013 Halligan Review "My Take: This is one of my favorite bars in Chicago. When it comes to rowdy college age bars, Halligan has you covered. It is a large bar with a lot of bartenders who are quick with a drink, so you won’t spend all night waiting for someone to help you. Not to mention the drinks are always inexpensive. You can go there with $15 in your pocket and get drinks for the whole night. Since Halligan is located right in the Lincoln Park it can get wild. It will be packed with students and young professionals looking for excitement and many come in groups, but it not very hard to approach anyone in the bar and strike up a conversation. The Scene: College students from DePaul and others who are recent grads are the most frequent visitors. Many who go here are usually with their friends and are trying to stay out all night. It’s also good for any sports lover or somewhere where single can meet and greet. Cocktails & Cuisine: There are drink specials for $2-3 every night and every night has a special where you can buy a beer for $2-3 and a mix drink for $3. There is always a drink and a shot of the month (just ask) and be sure to try the vodka and whiskey drinks. That’s they’re specialty Prices: Things generally cost $2-5. What to Wear: Many come dressed casually. The guys usually wear jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, and button downs. Girls wear the same and maybe a cocktail dress if they plan on going to a different bar afterwards. Insider Info/When to go: There is usually never a line so all you need to do is go to the front door, and they make the deals easy to spot because they are posted all over the walls. The best nights are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. " hide

Jan 30, 2013 Blackhawks Classic "This is a Chicago Classic. I have gone to the Billy goat before or after every hockey game I have ever gone to. I'm convinced if I don't go the Hawks won't win. It is a picturesque Chicago bar/restuarant. Its got the dive bar feel and has a shrine to Chicago sports great. Not to mention the burgers are awesome. The food is cheap, the beer is plentiful, and its going to be a loud and rowdy time. You can run into everyone there. From college kids, to tourists, to people who will still be taking shots to Ditka. You can't go wrong with starting or ending your Chicago adventure with the Billy Goat Tavern. " hide

  • Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

    Chicago
    Amphitheater / Concert Venue
Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre - Amphitheater | Concert Venue in Chicago.
Jan 30, 2013 Decent Concert Venue "I've been going to this concert venue for years. I think it is mainly due to the fact that it is enormous and can fit the huge acts. If a big act comes through Chicago it will probably be playing at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre if it isn't in Grant Park. They have big acts like Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, Blink-182, etc. The place is really big and for a cheap price you can sit/stand on the lawn. The lawn is the best part. Everyone is drinking, smoking, and dancing. The actual seating area is not all that fun. I would not recommend sitting there. Overall the venue is decent, but let's be honest if your favorite artist is playing somewhere you aren't going too concerned with how it looks. " hide
