Los Liones Canyon - Outdoor Activity in Los Angeles.
Aug 4, 2013 A great little hike in the Pacific Palisades "My Take: This hike is the epitome of maximum benefits with minimum effort. Although the hike itself is only about 1.5 miles (each direction) the views at the top stretch from Hollywood to Santa Monica, and all along the coast showing off the magnificent beaches. If you’re looking for a more intense workout try running the trail and I promise your legs will be screaming by the end. This is one of the best (and least known) hikes I’ve come across in the Pacific Palisades. The Scene: The trail itself is pretty devoid of people although a few workout junkies and dog lovers can be found. The top has some nice cliffs overlooking the view so feel free to bring a blanket and hang out a bit. Cocktails & Cusisine: No food here or nearby. Make sure to bring a snack and plenty of water. Prices: It’s free! Leave your wallet at home. What to Wear: Depending on the weather any workout attire is acceptable, although I would advise bringing a jacket for cooler days. If you don’t have hiking boots tennis shoes will work just fine. Insider Info/When to go: Go on a sunny day when the Los Angeles smog is at a minimum. Clearer days will give you the opportunity to get stunning views. Also there is street parking if the lot is full. " hide

Mar 2, 2013 If You Love to Laugh.. "The Comedy & Magic Club My Take: At first glance, I didn’t quite know what to make of The Comedy & Magic Club. It looked a bit run down and was full of mostly an older crowd. Yet, my skepticism was soon alleviated when the hilarious comedians got going. Even the magic act was pretty entertaining. Overall, it’s a great place to go for some laughs and a good time with friends. The Scene: The Comedy & Magic Club is an older venue full of only what I can describe as history. Famous garb of old comedians adorn the front, such as the famous Seinfeld puffy shirt, while cheesy rainbow lights, and green velvet curtains line the stage and matching vinyl green seats cover all their chairs. Looking at the crowd you wont find celebrities (except the regular famous comedians), or A-listers, or anyone dressed very trendy. Mostly it’s couples, groups of older friends or coworkers, and overall average locals looking for a night away from the traditional Los Angeles scene. Cocktails & Cuisine: The Comedy & Magic Club specializes in just that, comedy and magic. Therefore, their food and drinks are nothing special. They have a menu featuring basic bar food, a lot of pastas, a few salads, and some grilled entrees. Their bar features an average selection of beers, wines, and simple cocktails that are all reasonably priced. My recommendation is to grab dinner before the show at one of the fun & yummy bars and/or restaurants by the Hermosa Beach Pier and just purchase drinks at the actual show. Prices: For a great comedy show The Comedy & Magic Club isn’t very expensive. Shows are usually around $15 per person but can go up to $40 on nights with bigger names. There is also a two-order minimum per person from their menu but this can be spent on any mixture of their drinks, appetizers, entrees, or desserts. What to Wear: Basically this is a place where anything goes. Because its so close to the beach you would be fine wearing your shorts and flip flops from earlier in the day or sporting a smarter casual look with jeans and heels if you want. Usually the older crowd dresses up a bit more and while the younger guests tend to lean toward a more casual attire. Just be sure to not wear something too outrageous, as you will for sure get picked on. Insider Info/When to go: Often the club will get some very famous comedians. In this case it is essential to buy your tickets several weeks in advanced (be sure to check their online calendar). For the more average names, feel free to buy your ticket at the door. To sit in the front you must arrive pretty early and also be able to take a joke! " hide

SUR - Italian Restaurant | Lounge | Bar | French Restaurant | New American Restaurant | Mediterranean Restaurant in Los Angeles.
Mar 1, 2013 Drinks & Celebrities in West Hollywood "My Take: Sur is one of West Hollywood’s most famous and fun restaurants to visit. Beautiful waitresses and bartenders take your order with sensual similes while the whole environment screams sexy. The mix of Italian & American food is nothing too special but also not disappointing for its price point. But Sur isn’t about the food its about the flirtatious vibe, so naturally I loved it. The Scene: Sur has a very unique, intimate, and exotic flair. Stark white linens grace all the tables, chairs, and decorate much of the walls, especially on the patio. Fun antiques such as statues of Hindu gods are nestled throughout the restaurant while candle lighting creates a romantic and stimulating environment. My favorite part of Sur is actually their lounge where the most trendy and beautiful of West Hollywood’s nightlife stops by for enticing cocktails. Since Sur is owned by Lisa Vanderpump, one of The Housewives of Beverly Hills, and Sur itself has released its own reality show, Vanderpump Rules, don’t be surprised to see some Beverly Hills celebrities. Overall it’s a great place to take a date, grab some drinks before the club, celebrate with a group, or just go to possibly catch a glimpse of the reality show’s stars. Cocktails & Cuisine: Sur has absolutely delicious drinks. The creative cocktails featured in the lounge and restaurant are the most interesting items on their menu. They also have an extensive wine list and keep a full bar. In the way of food, Sur has a decent menu featuring a blend of American and Italian selections. They offer many great pasta plates as well as appetizers, steak & chicken dishes. If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, they also have a great selection of salads so you can fill up on those tasty cocktails. Prices: For a place that has become so publicized I was actually pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices. Entrees are in the $20 range while drinks themselves are a bit more expensive at around $15 a piece. The nice thing about Sur is that if you have to stay within a tight budget it’s definitely possible. What to Wear: There is no official dress code at Sur but its pretty much expected that you come in a minimum of upscale casual attire. Feel free to also sport a flirty cocktail dress if visiting the lounge before or after hitting up the bars in the nearby area of West Hollywood. Insider Info/When to go: If you’re going to Sur on the weekend be sure to make a reservation. If a reservation is impossible, go at 7pm to have the best chance of getting a decent table. The restaurant quickly gets a bit chaotic but if you arrive early its fun to witness the action without having your plans hindered by it. Although Sur used to serve lunch on select days they no longer do so don’t plan on being able to skip crowds this way. But if you’re in the mood for a late night snack, the Lounge stays open till 1am and has a few good salads and appetizers to end a successful night out. They also feature a great patio for summer night seating and a secluded dining room available for private parties. My favorite dish at Sur is the crab and gorgonzola risotto, and my favorite drink is the Strawberrini. If you are looking for a similar experience in Beverly Hills or want to focus your evening on crazy delicious food I recommend visiting their sister restaurant, Villa Blanca. " hide
