Apr 2, 2013 Cool Restaurant in Industrial DTLA "My Take: A group of 10 of us came here for a bday party and had an amazing night. The restaurant itself is pretty small, so we easily took up half of the seats there. The manager was really accommodating with our reservation (we did have to put down a credit card, which they would charge if we were no shows) and everything was perfect when we got there. Service was amicable and while the server could have stopped by a bit more, we were having too good of a time to notice. The only thing that stood out in a (ever so slightly) negative manner was that our entrees came out in very spaced out intervals. This is most likely due to the fact that their kitchen is super tiny and staffed by 3 people max. But, we're easy going, so it wasn't a big deal. Cuisine/Drinks: Food was fantastic! The portions are on the small side, but with 3 flatbreads shared between the 10 of us, plus an entree each, we were all satisfied at the end of our 3 hour meal! They have a nice selection of beer and wine - but as their name indicates, they only offer American libations. Our server was knowledgeable about wine recommendations when I told her that I preferred a pure, Willamette-style pinot (they only had CA pinots) and she matched my taste perfectly! The Scene: Very hipster and very trendy, but also romantic in an urban sort of way. People were generally in their late 20's to late 30's. Dress: skinny jeans and a nice top are fine for guys and girls, but the crowd also rocks a lot of vintage/hipster style too. Prices: Beer was between 5-12, wine: 6-15/glass, flatbread: 9, entrees: 10-15. Tip: they have a "valet" lot, where you basically just pay to park your own car. There's plenty of parking around if you drive around the block a couple times. " hide

Mar 29, 2013 Casually Elegant "My Take: Seasons 52 really pushes the low calorie menu, which, I'll admit, made me a bit skeptical of the food quality initially, once I tasted their mahi mahi tacos, however, all doubts were cast aside! This is the perfect place for a business lunch or if you feel like classing it up a bit at night. The Scene: The setting and menu is on the more traditional side, so it attracts an older clientele. By promoting its healthy options, however, there is also a draw for young and fit Santa Monica locals. The price tags on most of the menu options also make it clear that this is a casually elegant, but upscale restaurant. Cocktails & Cuisine: Healthy and fresh go hand in hand, so you can be sure that there is a major emphasis on seasonality at Seasons 52. They offer a few seasonal specials, but I would highly recommend their mahi mahi tacos. While they somehow sneak in sour cream and keep the dish under 500 calories, this trio of soft tacos was so fresh and yummy! There was tons of flavor layered into the dish through bright cilantro sauces and salsas. The ahi tuna tartare was also fantastic. Our server suggested we try the artichoke flatbread, but I wasn't very impressed by it and found it generic and dull. Prices: This is definitely an upscale restaurant, lunch for 6 of us (2 appetizers, 6 entrees, 4 coffees, 8 mini desserts) cost around $160. Considering this was just lunch, that's definitely higher than your average midday dining spot. What to Wear: For lunch I would suggest anything trendy casual - nice jeans and a nice top will do the trick. Insider Info: They offer free valet parking, but if you don't want the wait, then the Westfield shopping center offers 90 min. free parking in their garage just 2 blocks up the street." hide
