  • Founding Farmers

Founding Farmers - Restaurant in Washington, DC.
May 23, 2013 Fresh, local cuisine "Founding Farmers is a delicious restaurant located in Foggy Bottom. All of the ingredients come from local farmers so the food is extremely fresh. There are two seating areas, one upstairs and one downstairs, as well as a bar downstairs. Many local businessmen and women frequent this bar as a great place to grab drinks with coworkers after work. You can also enjoy the bar while you wait for a table to open up if you do not make a reservation ahead of time. The menu offers everything from mac and cheese to steak. With such a wide variety everyone can find something they like. They also offer brunch of Sundays. The brunch is extremely popular and you will not get in without a reservation. The desserts are also incredible and mouthwatering, but the portion sizes are large so I recommend splitting. My personal favorites are the chocolate mousse and the red velvet cake with homemade cream cheese frosting. This restaurant is a little bit fancier and pricier, but it is a great place to take a date or friends. Many university students also frequent the restaurant when their parents are in town. " hide

  • Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona - Landmark | Square in Rome.
May 22, 2013 Vibrant spot with great restuarants "Piazza Navona is a vibrant place that really showcases the spirit of Rome. You can enjoy a delicious meal at any of the numerous restaurants that line the piazza, sit for a cappuccino and people watch or simply stroll through on a walk. It is always full of vendors and you can stop to buy a painting of Rome or even have your portrait sketched on the spot. Stop and admire Bernini's Four RIvers fountain in the middle of the piazza and listen for the street performers' music. There are also several gelato places within the piazza, including Gromm. My favorite time to visit is at night when some of the tourists have gone home. It's fun to sit and imagine what this same spot might have looked like during the Roman Empire when it was a chariot arena. The piazza is a great mix of history and culture along with modern charm. Definitely worth a visit." hide

  • La Champañeria (Can Paixano)

La Champañeria (Can Paixano) - Bar | Restaurant in Barcelona.
May 22, 2013 Great cava and tapas for an excellent price "La Champañeria if a fun little hole in the wall place. They offer four different types of cava that are all delicious. Before 5pm you can order bottles of cava for around 5 euros and after 5pm you can get glasses of cava for just 1 euro. Each time you order a drink you also must order food. You can get anything from cheese plates to ham sandwiches and the food is all delicious. It is a really fun atmosphere and it becomes very crowded starting around 7pm. The one drawback to La Champañeria is that there is no seating and when it is busy, it gets so crowded you almost can't move and must be careful not to spill your drink as people shove their way up to the counter. Regardless of the close quarters, it is a great place to go with friends for cheap drinks and food. Try pushing your way to the back where sometimes there is a bit more room and a place to set down your glass. I recommend trying rosat cava and the delicious sauces they have available to put on the sandwiches. ." hide
