Jul 3, 2013 MSG = Most Superior Gymnasium "The Garden is everything it's hyped up to be and more. I've been there a couple times for Knicks' games, one of which was against the Lakers and the crowd and atmosphere was electrifying. I'm not sure if it was the Knicks fans themselves, the impeccable detail in the design and layout, or having tickets in a suite, but I'm sure a combination of all of the above made the experience unforgettable. What I came to find out, is that Knicks' games were a social event. During halftime, walking in the foyer, I saw everything from 3 piece suits to evening gowns. Going to a Knicks game was almost a sign of prestige rather than fan-dom, it was interesting. Lots of important people talking to other important people about the importance of their important matters. Basically. All that aside, if you're a basketball fan and you're coming here for a game, MSG will exceed your expectations and then some. I've been to a few NBA stadiums, and there's a reason they call The Garden the most famous arena in the world. " hide

Jul 3, 2013 Magical in December "Luckily, I had a friend who who lived there, so they took me up the Spanish Stairs through a more scenic route. The way we came up, we got to take some incredible pictures overlooking the entire area and much of Rome as well. Since it was during the holiday season, the large Christmas tree was up in the front, and the amount of people there was unbelievable. We came through the back, so we got to the top of the stairs and worked our way to the bottom, looking down into what closely resembled a sea of ants. It was both beautiful and suffocating to see that many people together in one area. As usual, avoid the bothersome merchants if you can, but enjoy the atmosphere, especially in the day time." hide

Jul 3, 2013 There's free wifi underneath the tower; that alone deserves 4 stars! "Bet ya didn't know that, did ya?! As cliche as it sounds, as touristy as it looks, I could visit it every day for the next year and not get tired of it. The experience of Skype'ing my mom from under the tower and having her watch in awe with me as we hit the top of the hour when the tower sparkles for 10 minutes, was incredible. What a moment. It's easy for people to write it off as just another overrated monument, but enjoy its surroundings first! Go mingle with the multi-cultural bears that align the lawn it faces, while pretending your blind or deaf when the merchants try and shove their (usually stolen) souvenirs on you. It's fun! Luckily, I chose to ride up the tower just half an hour before it closed, when there was virtually no line and I got to take my time, and easily walked about while on the 1st and 2nd tier. Not that I'd ever be able to afford to eat a meal at the top of the tower, nor have I made it a life goal of mine, but I do admire the atmosphere and magic it exudes. It's the Eiffel Tower for crying out loud. As an American, you're only supposed to see it in books and movies, so when you actually visit it up close, it's a pretty special moment. As the wine is cheaper than the water out there, my friends and I sat underneath the tower one night, had ourselves a little picnic, French baguettes in hand and wine in glasses. Toasting to the good life. Alas, I must go back." hide
