  • Gelateria De' Medici

    Florence
    Restaurant
Gelateria De' Medici - Restaurant in Florence.
May 18, 2013 Crema de' Medici - Pure Gold "This little, yet well known Gelateria, is located either by a short bus ride or a little bit longer walk from the main train station. Located in a non-tourist neighborhood, the locals often congregate later at night for a night-cap or students grab some after hopping off the bus. Having lived less than a 2 minute walk from this Gelateria, proved costly, not for my wallet, but because I always wanted to go. Quietly known, or rumored, to be the best place to eat Gelato in Firenze, is no joke. In my opinion, they are, and I have eaten my fair share of Gelato. Their staple is their own creation the "Crema de' Medici" which has little chucks of chocolate in it. My favorite thing about Gelato is that for a certain price you can get a number of different flavors within the same cup. This place has a large number of options, all which are very good. The patrons are nice and welcome you to taste test or offer their opinions on flavors you may like. If you like inexpensive but very delicious Gelato, at whatever time of day, make your way there. • Campo de’ Fiori

    Rome
Nightlife Area / Outdoor Activity / Square
Campo de’ Fiori - Nightlife Area | Outdoor Activity | Square in Rome.
May 18, 2013 Tourist-city "As an American living in Rome, how could I not go out in Camp-land as my friends and I dubbed it. Our apartment was in a very "Italian" area, few people spoke English so Campo-land was a little piece of home. By day it is a wonderful open market with all sorts of fresh foods and clothes, a really great place to shop or even to walk through, chat with the vendors or take pictures. By night, it turns into a college student, or young adults haven. Typically, it is very touristy. A number of Italians do come to the bars for drinks before going to any one of the surrounding clubs. The bartenders all speak English, are very nice, and generous to college students. It is a fun place - I do not suggest going there every time you go out, but if you are in Rome for more than a few nights, or have no idea what to do, Campo de' Fiori is as good a place as any to start an evening. Bars close at 2. There are few people there before 10.30 or 11pm as, in typically Italian fashion, dinner is late and LONG (but amazing and I love it). Not to mention that Gelateria's and food stands are every which way on the surrounding streets, make for great late night or early morning snacks. Sloppy Sam's and the Drunken Ship are the two most popular places. " hide

  • Space Electronic

Space Electronic - Club in Florence.
May 18, 2013 A different experience "My time and memories at Space are varied. I first went while visiting from Rome and had a great time. It is a two, well three floor club. The first or ground floor is a massive bar and some couches where people congregate and drink. The second is a large dance floor, and the third is almost a ring-like track where people can observe, dance, drink, talk, etc. It is extremely touristy with a large MALE Italian population - ladies, watch out. Studying abroad with girls, their opinion of Space obviously varied but generally the amount of Italian guys actually turned them off the whole experience. Anyway, my perspective. It is fun. I saw Lloyd Banks perform (he was okay). You are guaranteed to meet new people, and if you are studying, or even passing through, the odds are you will meet someone who speaks the same language or maybe even someone you know or have a mutual connection with (happened three times for my friends and I). Bottom line: there are better places to party in Florence but it is nowhere near the worst place to go on a Saturday night with your friends to drink, dance, and listen to good music. Friendly tip: DO NOT lose your drink card. You will not like how much you will have to pay if this happens" hide
