Jun 19, 2013 A very Pretty Penny "Newbury street is beautiful and classy, with a variety of shops and restaurants. While it's an extremely popular tourist attraction, there's a good number of natives that frequent it's high-end stores. On the weekends and when the weather is nice, the sidewalks are packed with people. If you're going to shop, there's high end stores like Gucci and Armani as well as more affordable shops like H&M and Urban Outfitters. For food, there's the famous Stephanie's or Daisy Buchannan's, along with the less expensive burger joint, B.good and a great coffeeshop, Espresso Royale. Along the sidewalk are Berklee kids playing music and other street artists, so there's always something interesting to see. Even if you're not there to spend a lot of money, it's a nice people-watching spot or good for a leisurely walk--the crowds make it difficult to get anywhere fast. If you start walking from the Hynes Convention Center end you'll be rewarded at the end with the Public Gardens downtown. Despite it's upscale reputation, you can easily enjoy the atmosphere without spending your entire paycheck." hide

Royale Boston - Music Venue | Nightclub in Boston.
Jun 19, 2013 Loud, Dark, and Expensive "I ended up at Royale for the Military Ball partly by accident, and probably would have enjoyed myself had I been more prepared. If you're looking for a trendy dance club then this is the spot. It's massive, with balconies on the second floor and a huge stage that features attractive dancers. This particular event catered to the LGBT community, with muscled dudes wearing nothing but briefs and combat boots. When I was there, the main dance floor was packed, but there are multiple bars and getting a drink wasn't as much of a hassle as I thought it would be. The drinks are pretty expensive though, but most of the clubs in Boston are anyway. I got a bottled beer for $6, but mixed drinks are at least $9 for a small glass. The music is, of course, incredibly loud, but if you're at Roayle you're there to dance and there's plenty of room for it. I wasn't too impressed with the DJ, but it really didn't matter the longer I stayed. I was with a couple of friends but it was impossible to have a conversation with them over the music. Staff was super friendly, handled the huge crowd efficiently, and like the dancers, are very attractive. This club attracts a young, stylish crowd so if you're planning a trip to Royale pull out your favorite cocktail dress and guys, iron your shirt, because people tend to get pretty dressed up. " hide

Boston Common Coffee Co. - Café | Coffee Shop in Boston.
Jun 19, 2013 Part of my daily routine "Boston Common Coffee Co. (or BoCoCoCo among my friends) is right next door to where I have class and I go pretty much everyday to get my fix without breaking the bank. Their coffee selection rotates so I've gotten to try their light and dark roasts, which are always flavorful and local. They have a large selection of pastries, breads, and bagels, and a full sandwich menu for lunch. The space is large with tables, bar seating, and comfy chairs, with a mix of tourists, students, and business-people that frequent the shop for it's chill vibe. Around 9am the line is usually pretty long, so if you're just grabbing some coffee and a pastry to go, it moves quickly. However, I've waited up to 10 minutes for a bagel and cream cheese after I ordered. The staff, though, are always friendly and helpful. Lunchtime can also get a little crowded, but the atmosphere is always enjoyable. Other than a little extra waiting time for bagels and sandwiches sometimes, I've always been happy with the selection and service here. Anytime I'm in the Downtown Crossing area or by the Common, I'll find a reason to stop by and bring friends whenever I can." hide
