  • Ned Kelly's Australian Bar

    Munich
Live Music Venue / Sports Bar
Ned Kelly's Australian Bar - Live Music Venue | Sports Bar in Munich.
Jun 10, 2013 A Kiwi on Australian soil. "For a Kiwi (aka New Zealander) in Munich its nice to feel like you've returned home for a little. Well almost home. You've actually only made it to Australia. But it was good to hear some similar accents, even if they were Australian (Aussies and Kiwi's have a love/hate relationship). The bar isn't so bad with a good backpacker Aussie atmosphere you would expect and a fun place to sink a few "bevys". I went with a couple of Germans who found it good fun to strike up a good old Aussie accent and we all met some fun new friends. We also had a game pool. It got a bit loose later in the evening, as you would expect in an Aussie Backpacker Bar, but nothing too out of hand. Sadly (but as you would expect with Australian beer) theres only really one slightly drinkable beer here when you exclude the German brands, and that is being really nice. Fosters is just drinkable after the 6th beer. But they have Bundy and Coke which is superb. I wouldn't mind if Ned Kelly went and stole some beer from New Zealand next time he's doing a run back. All in all not too bad. When to visit this bar: - When theres some rugby on. - Especially All Blacks aka New Zealand Rugby Team vs Australia (this would be a big night so be prepared). When not to visit: - Just after the All Blacks beat Australia........ unless your a Kiwi, then it would be a good laugh!" hide

  • Cable

    London
    Club
    Cable - Club in London.
Jun 10, 2013 Cable - gone but not forgotten "A week in London on my OE (overseas experience) gave me the honour of visiting this establishment. It was a very unique bar/club, being built within the confines of the London Bridge Station. It had multiple rooms, a number of spots to purchase drinks and most importantly it had an atmosphere that most night crawlers enjoy, it was very dark and had an eerie feel to it. Sadly its uniqueness was also its downfall. The bar had to be closed as Network rail decided to redevelop the area. A night in Cable: - Tubed in with the whole crew after some pre-drinks at a friends flat. - Wandered through a couple of dark streets to get to the entrance (I really doubted my friends at one point). - Entered the club under the beautiful old brick archways of the station. - Purchased a couple of typically overpriced drinks. - Found a great spot in the dance floor to crank for the rest of the night. - Got lost trying to find the toilets. - Got lost and met new friends trying to find old friends. - Partied in all the different rooms and hidden spots of the labyrinth known as Cable. - Home for the sunrise. • Hofbräuhaus

    Munich
Beer Hall / Drinking Activity / Historic Restaurant
Hofbräuhaus - Beer Hall | Drinking Activity | Historic Restaurant in Munich.
Jun 10, 2013 A brew at the original brew house - Munich's Hofbrauhaus. "The best thing about of Munich is that its such a wonderful city to walk and ride around. Luckily the second best things is the number of beer halls to quench that well earned thirst. One venue you are expected to visit to quench this thirst in the Famous Hofbrauhaus. Created for Royalty in its early years its now one of the most famous watering holes in the world. Its always a bit of a squeeze to find a seat, especially if you arrive late or have a big group, but as it was only four of us we managed a small spot outside in the sun. As the beer flowed it was easy to see how this is such a popular venue, with so many varied people enjoying the brown nectar. Not only tourists, but locals and Germans from other regions. Tips for heading to the beer hall: - Go early, it gets busy, lunch is great if you want something a bit more relaxed. - Get the full litre........ - But beware the dunkel or dark beer. Its stronger! - Practise your German, if you get it wrong you will stil get a good laugh out of them for trying. - Find some Lederhosen and a Dirndl to really top off the look. The only thing is that its a bit pricier than other beer halls, but I guess after 500 or so years they have deserved it." hide
