  • Razzmatazz

    Barcelona
    Club / Live Music Venue
Razzmatazz - Club | Live Music Venue in Barcelona.
Nov 23, 2013 Barcelona’s Secret Cure for Getting Over ‘Humpday’ "Although Razz earns a lot of its international fame for its five-room, all-night parties on the weekend, its El Dirty theme parties on Wednesday nights are easily some of the best club nights in Barcelona. Drawing a good mix of locals and expats, Wednesday nights use only the main room and stage—but the vibe remains consistently more fun-loving and friendly than any other night at the club, as the DJs spin a mix of modern pop-rock and classic cheesy hits (everyone loves some Spice Girls and N’Sync nostalgia) while go-go dancers (costumed to match the nightly theme) imitate everyone from Britney to Psy. Download the night’s flyer or snap a screen shot from the club’s Facebook page and you’ll get discounted entry and a free drink until 2 a.m.—just make sure you get there before 1:30, as the queue can get pretty long after that." hide

  • The Roxy Theatre

    Los Angeles
    Concert Venue
The Roxy Theatre - Concert Venue in Los Angeles.
Aug 27, 2012 The Underground and the Famous "Known for its past performances by big names like Neil Young, Miles Davis, Nirvana, David Bowie, and Avril Lavigne, the Roxy is also a great place to stumble upon young singers and unsigned talent. Between very little space between the crowd and the stage, a good view from everywhere in the room, and amazing acoustics, you can get to know the band up close and personally. Different nights boast acts of all types of alternative, rock, punk, indie, pop, folk, and metal genres while the On The Rox bar above the main theatre has late night DJ’s—added to a fairly vast and strong drink menu (sorry complicated cocktail drinkers, you may not be in love here), this diversity brings in everyone from the goths to the hipsters to the preppy. There tends to be something for everyone, which is why some locals chose to make it a nightly spot. When you leave at the end of the night, don’t forget to walk past the alley to the right of the venue—the band sometimes hangs out there, and if you’re lucky (and not too imposing as far as group size) you might just be invited back to meet them. • The Grove / Farmers Market

    Los Angeles
Farmer's Market / Landmark / Outdoor Activity / Shopping Area
The Grove / Farmers Market - Farmer's Market | Landmark | Outdoor Activity | Shopping Area in Los Angeles.
Aug 27, 2012 The Grove: A Fun Spot for Everyone…Depending on the Time "With shops, restaurants, bars, the Farmer’s Market, and a movie theatre, the Grove has something available for all ages, interests, and income levels. Couples can precede the latest silver screen attraction with drinks at Morels French Steakhouse while business executives can grab a great bottle of wine over classic American food at The Whisper Restaurant. Parents or the shopping weary can rest on benches by the lush fountain and listen to music (sometimes live) while the younger kids enjoy the American Girl, the teenagers sift through racks in Forever XXI and Anthropology, and friends and students gather for cheap, hearty portions at the Cheesecake Factory or the international stands in the market. While the Grove is generally accessible at any time of year, watch out for Friday nights, weekend afternoons, and the holiday season. Since the entertainment at this shopping center is so widely appealing, tourists, large families, and the occasional film crew can make a relaxing day rather hectic and frustrating. If the garage is full or too crowded, try parking in meters along Fairfax. If you have the time to drive and want a guaranteed calmer environment, visit the Americana in Glendale. About 20 minutes from downtown LA with minimal traffic, this shopping center is the Grove’s sister plaza just with added stores, wine bars, and bakeries—and without as many lines. " hide
