Jun 25, 2013 FAV late-night club in Chi "This is not only my favorite late-night club (open till 5AM on SAT), it is my favorite club in Chicago, period. Studio Paris is all the hype, but Cuvee beats Paris in my books because their music is more to my taste. CROWD: Same as Studio Paris except maybe slightly older. More sophisticated in my opinion, and possibly more international/European due to the music (more house than hip hop). It doesn't get as packed as Paris which is actually pretty good. DOOR POLICY: Serious double standards. Very tough for guys, possibly tougher than Paris, and on top of that if you don't have a table then it's $20 cover. Very easy for girls even if you're just average. My friends and I walk in right away no matter how many people there are waiting. There's usually not a huge pack of crowd waiting at the door because unlike Paris, if you're not getting in they will tell you directly, instead of telling you that "we're on hold, at capacity" or "just wait 15 minutes". MUSIC: As mentioned, much more house, some deep house even some times. AMBIANCE: Much darker, not club lights just beautiful chandeliers - the same one that Ph.D at the Dream Hotel in NYC has. Balcony for smokers and if you need air. In summary, I might be biased just because I've gone so often and now it feels like home, but I think that also attest to the quality of the place. It's certainly not as popular as Studio Paris, but after 2AM, it's either here or Board Room. If you like hip hop, you got o Board Room (1 block away), but if you like house more, this is THE place." hide

Jun 25, 2013 Best club in Chicago "Studio Paris is nowhere close to the best clubs I've been to in NYC, Miami or Europe. That being said, it is hands down the best club in Chicago. THE CROWD: Well-dressed, decently good-looking (top 10% of Chicago), and in their mid-20s to mid-30s. Lots of doctors lawyers, bankers, and traders. Have decent amount of money, pops decent number of bottles, usually Vevue or Dom Perignon. DOOR POLICY: Extremely strict - in fact more strict than most clubs in Manhattan - mainly due to the lack of other good clubs around. WITH a table I'd arrive before midnight because there will be a wait regardless. WITHOUT a table reservation you need to be sure to arrive before 10 PM (at which time the place will still be empty). You could always get there early, get stamped, and leave out the restaurant entrance to go out somewhere else until it starts to get popping after midnight. The door men (Ian, Ryan, and Ryan) won't know, because once you're stamped you re-enter through the restaurant entrance. MUSIC: Mixture of hip hop and house. Almost 50/50. Pretty up-to-date. Good sound system, especially if you're dancing on the table haha! Small dance floor if you're not at a table though. Sat nights are big, but I personally prefer Thursdays as the music is somehow better then. AMBIANCE: After the recent re-modeling I personally think it looks a lot more chic. Big windows and closed roof creates an open-feeling. All in all I think if you can get in smoothly, you'd have fun. The door is always a hassle though, and I've waited over 30 minutes many times when I was joining a big spenders table." hide
