The Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team that plays games at the O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California. The O.co was originally built in 1966 but was renovated in 1996 to add thousands of more seats and now has a seating capacity of 35,067. The A’s origins began back in 1901 in Philadelphia where they played for over 50 years. The team eventually moved to Kansas City and then finally to Oakland in1968 where A’s games have been held ever since. The Green and Gold play in the American League West against fellow west coast rivals and are winners of a staggering amount of Pennants and World Series titles, making them one of the more successful franchises in Major League history. Notable A’s throughout the years include Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers, and Catfish Hunter. A’s tickets can be purchased at the ballpark and are usually available on game days – but when the team is in a heated Pennant race, the stadium can fill up fast.
