The name San Francisco obviously conjures up very different things to very different people, but when talking about San Francisco sports, clear lines are drawn, loyalties are kept and a winning tradition is preserved.
Made up of teams throughout the bay area, San Franciscans are blessed with unlimited sports options. The 49ers and Giants play football and baseball in the city, while the Oakland Raiders, Oakland A’s, and Golden State Warriors play just over the bridge. In San Jose, the Sharks are the resident NHL hockey team and are joined by the Earthquakes for Major League Soccer.
The Bay Area is also host to various golf and tennis tournaments, in addition to cycling and running races like the annual Bay to Breakers foot race.
San Francisco may mean something different to everybody, but one thing is for certain, there are tons of sports in San Francisco to see or play on any given day throughout the year.
