Less about fictitious superheroes and more about recognizing the vibrant artists of Bayview, the Superhero Street Fair is a free all-day street fest with five stages of burning man camp-style entertainment, gladiator jousting, human hamster ball races, hero and villain costume contests, and more.
First organized back in 2010 and held in late September, the Superhero Street Fair was developed by the co-Creators of Sea of Dreams, the How Weird Street Fair, Decompression, Masquerotica, and Get YER Freak on.
Taking place in and around the newly refurbished waterfront boardwalk overlooking Islais Creek, the Superhero Street Fair also includes a floating barge of Go-Go girls, screenings every hour of locally made action films, and a host of artist displays and live painting.
Although the Superhero Street Fair is free, attendees are asked to donate $10 if they are in costume and $20 if they are in their human form.
Past musical performers at Superhero Street Fair include the Dancetronauts, Beat Church, El Circo, Pink Mammoth, Opel, Compression, Disco Nights, Forward, Bay Area Drum & Bass, Supperclub, ihatefun Recordings, and Shamrock City.
The Superhero Street Fair runs from 2pm–midnight, giving you plenty of time to find your next arch nemesis while you are there.
