Pacific Heights – apart from being both the name and setting of the greatest Michael Keaton movie ever behind Johnny Dangerously – would never make anyone’s Top 5 nightlife destinations list.

…Unless they’re lucky enough to call one of the seemingly endless arrays of monolithic mansions in this part of town home.

The Heights is far and away San Francisco’s best version of Beverly Hills, with block upon block of castle-like Victorian abodes, ridiculously upscale shopping opportunities, chichi restaurants, and sweeping hilltop views.

Luckily the views are free, with some of the grandest panoramic vistas available at Alta Plaza and Lafayette parks, as well as atop the Lyon Street Steps, which extend out from where Lyon Street dead-ends at Broadway (directly abutting the equally stunning expanse of The Presidio).

The greatest concentration of restaurant and shopping options can be found on Fillmore Street just north of California, but given the average price-tags at these establishments, most visitors tend to window shop.
