On the first Saturday in February, Vietnamese communities from all over the Bay unite for the Hoi Tet Festival of Northern California. Since 1977, this Vietnamese New Year festival has celebrated Tet with live entertainment and timeless traditions. The Hoi Tet Festival is held each year at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, California.
The Hoi Tet Festival brings out a crowd of over 40,000 people and features a wide range of activities. Sample traditional Vietnamese foods and take in live music at one of the six exhibition centers. Watch a martial arts demonstration, take part in the table tennis tournament, or catch the annual Miss TẾT Pageant. From a bustling circus to colorful firecrackers, there’s something for everyone at the Hoi Tet Festival.
Tickets to the Hoi Tet Festival cost around $12 per adult and about $8 per child. Parking is available at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds for about $10 per vehicle. After ushering in the New Year with Vietnamese traditions, top it all off with dinner and drinks at the Vietnamese restaurants nearby in San Jose.
