SF Independent Film Festival Description

At the beginning of each year, filmmakers, producers, and studios make the biggest awards push for their beloved films. The Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Directors Guild of America Awards in January are soon followed by the prestigious Academy Awards in February or March.

However, most filmmakers, producers, and studio executives have to start somewhere -- like at the SF Independent Film Festival, which was founded in 1999 with the purpose of showcasing the best independent, subversive, and alternative cinema from around the world.

The SF Independent Film Festival – also known as SF Indie – takes place every February at Roxie Theatre. Past films at the SF Independent Film Festival have included The Color Wheel, Kill List, Last Days Here, and Klown.

Tickets for the SF Independent Film Festival start at $25 for an all-access pass for attendees under 21 and $170 for those over 21. You can also buy a 5- or 10-pack movie pass for $50 and $90, respectively.
