The Napa Truffle Festival celebrates Napa’s growing culinary reputation as well as truffle dishes made by Michelin Star chefs. Held for four days in January, the Napa Truffle Festival takes place at the Westin Verasa in Napa, California.
Since 2011, the Napa Truffle Festival has brought out food writers, mycology experts, and award-winning chefs to teach truffle fans and growers about the art of truffle cultivation and cooking. For truffle growers and mushroom hounds, forage guides like David Campbell will be on hand to show how to find edible mushrooms in the wild.
Food writers like Colman Andrews and mycology experts like Dr. Paul Thomas give presentations on truffle preparation and growing, while Michelin Star chefs cook up their best truffle dishes for special tasting menus. Past participating Michelin Star chefs include Ken Frank, Nicola Chessa, Marco Gubbiotti, and Michael Tusk.
Tickets to the wild mushroom forage cost about $40 each. Lunch and dinner tasting menus at the Napa Truffle Festival range from $150 to $400 per person. For cultivators, the Scientific Grower Truffle Package at around $225 includes two seminars on truffle cultivation and a truffle tour. But for the ultimate in foodie decadence, the Grand Truffle Weekend Package at around $1,250 per person includes access to all workshops, seminars, tours, and tasting events.
