Kesha Description

Ke$ha

Ke$ha was born Kesha Rose Sebert in Los Angeles. Raised by a single mother along with her older brother in Nashville, Ke$ha’s singer-songwriter mother instilled a love of music in her daughter at a young age. Ke$ha has cited Madonna, Queen, and Beck as being influential in her musical development. Ke$ha’s albums feature a mix of dance, electronic, hip-hop, and pop stylings.

In 2005 at the age of 18, Ke$ha was signed to Kemosabe Entertainment. Though she sang backup and wrote songs for various artists, her breakthrough came in 2009 after appearing on rapper Flo Rida's number-one single, “Right Round.”

Ke$ha’s debut album, Animal, came out in 2010 under RCA Records and quickly became the number-one selling album in the U.S. The record’s hit single “Tik Tok” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed at the top for nine consecutive weeks. That same year Ke$ha released her first extended play (EP), Cannibal, with the single "We R Who We R,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Ke$ha’s second studio album, Warrior, was released in late 2012.

Ke$ha co-wrote the single “Till the World Ends” for Britney Spears and was featured on the remix of the song along with rapper Nicki Minaj. Rock icons The Flaming Lips, Iggy Pop, and Alice Cooper have also collaborated with Ke$ha, earning her respect in the rock & roll world.
